Sympathy Cards: Religious Verses and Motivational Wording

    June 13th, 2011 by admin

It is often difficult to find the right words to express our sympathy. A sympathy card can be a nice way to console and ease the pain of someone when he is confronted with the loss of a loved one.

A religious sympathy card may read: “Just as a caterpillar must exchange one life for another to achieve his full potential, so must we. In this time of grief, be comforted in knowing that our Creator has a plan for each of us to reach our full potential in a world beyond the one we know.” Another example is, “It is often difficult for us to understand why loved ones are taken from us unexpectedly. During these times, when our hopes are dashed and our strength is tested, we can find solace in the comforting words of our friends and strength through the promise of our Lord.”Those who have no religious belief can also be comforted in their time of grief with a sympathy card. Two examples are, “I share your pain in the loss of our dear friend who is no longer here to laugh with us. But we can find comfort in remembering the good times and in knowing that we were there to support each other in the bad times.” and “As a wise man once said, ‘A feast is made for laughter, wine makes life merry, and money is the answer for everything.’ (Ecclesiastes 10:19) In other words, ‘Here today, gone tomorrow. Better live it up while we can.”
